Wild bee balm, also known as Monarda fistulosa, is a native North American plant with aromatic leaves and distinctive lavender-pink flowers. It attracts bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, making it a popular choice in gardens. The leaves can be used for herbal teas, and its vibrant blooms add color to natural landscapes.
Easy to grow!
To sow bee balm seeds:
1. **Timing:** Start indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost date in your region. Alternatively, sow seeds directly outdoors in the spring or fall.
2. **Soil:** Use well-draining soil with a neutral to slightly acidic pH.
3. **Containers:** If starting indoors, use seed trays or pots with good drainage.
4. **Sowing Depth:** Plant seeds 1/8 inch deep in the soil.
5. **Moisture:** Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Mist the soil surface to avoid disturbing seeds.
6. **Light:** Bee balm seeds require light for germination. Press them lightly into the soil without covering.
7. **Temperature:** Maintain a warm environment, around 70°F (21°C), for optimal germination.
8. **Germination:** Seeds typically germinate in 14-21 days. Once seedlings have developed several leaves, transplant them into individual pots if started in trays.
9. **Transplanting:** If starting indoors, transplant seedlings outdoors after the last frost, spacing them 18-24 inches apart.
10. **Outdoor Sowing:** If sowing directly outdoors, scatter seeds on prepared soil, press them in, and keep the area consistently moist until seedlings establish.
11. **Care:** Provide well-drained soil, and ensure the plants receive full to partial sunlight. Regular watering and deadheading spent flowers will encourage continuous blooming.
By following these steps, you can successfully grow bee balm from seeds and enjoy its vibrant blooms in your garden.

However, because successful growth depends on various factors beyond our control—such as planting conditions, weather, and care—we cannot offer refunds for seeds, corms, or bulbs that do not germinate or sprout.
Thank you for your understanding and support. If you have any questions about planting or care, we’re happy to help!
