Proper preparation of the site is crucial for ensuring the prompt germination of seeds and the healthy growth of seedlings. Optimal results are achieved by planting on cleared ground. Eliminate existing vegetation to prevent competition from other plants, employing methods such as pulling, tilling under, spraying with a general herbicide, or a combination of these techniques, depending on factors like the area's size, type of vegetation, and density. Loosen the soil through scraping, tilling, or scarifying, with tilling being reserved for highly compacted soil, coupled with additional weed control measures as needed, as outlined in the Weed Control section.
For successful germination and robust seedling development, all seeds, including wildflowers, require ample moisture. To achieve the best outcome, thoroughly soak the planted areas and maintain consistent moisture for 4-6 weeks, gradually reducing waterings thereafter. In situations without irrigation, consider planting in the spring or before anticipated rainfall periods. Once seedlings are established, adjust watering based on climate and rainfall. In arid climates or during drought conditions, supplemental water of up to 1/2 inch per week may be necessary to maintain an optimal display. It's crucial to be mindful of weed presence, as they thrive on moisture and may overpower overwatered areas, competing with wildflowers. We take great care to provide high-quality seeds, corms, and bulbs, all of which are tested for acceptable germination rates. However, because successful growth depends on various factors beyond our control—such as planting conditions, weather, and care—we cannot offer refunds for seeds, corms, or bulbs that do not germinate or sprout.
Thank you for your understanding and support. If you have any questions about planting or care, we’re happy to help!
