Rudbeckia Rustic Mix

Old fashioned mix, bushy semi-compact plants. Mix includes gold, bronze, terracotta, mahogany and many bicolor shades, all with dark coned centers. Reblooms freely after blooms are cut. Long lasting in bouquets. For knee-hi bedding, large multi-plant containers, or fieldgrown fresh local cutflower at closer spacing.

Gloriosa Daisy hybrids are short-lived perennials, sometimes treated as annuals. Often these will survive a few winters, or at least self seed. This strain produces large black-eyed daisy flowers with petals in a range of shades from yellow through to gold, orange, bronze and deep mahogany-red, often with contrasting tips. An outstanding cut flower. Removing faded blossoms regularly will greatly increase the flowering time. Seed heads have good winter interest, and can be used in dried arrangements. Fairly drought tolerant, once established. Wonderful in mixed containers.

DAYS TO GERMINATION:
8-14 days at 68-72°F (20-22°C)

SOWING:
Transplant (recommended) - Sow into 72 to 50-cell plug flats 5-7 weeks before last frost. Cover seed very lightly as light is needed for germination. Harden off seedlings and transplant out after danger of frost has passed. Bottom water or mist to avoid covering seed.

Direct seed - Surface sow 2 weeks before last frost. Heat and drought tolerant once established. Pinching not required. Reseeds.

Excellent cut flower. Beds, pots, back of borders, or wild, meadow, and cottage gardens.

Note:
Rudbeckia requires long days to initiate flowering and will continue to produce some, smaller blooms into the fall but on shortened stems of reduced quality. Deadheading increases blooms during summer production.
